Portfolio managers, trustees

The financial market legislation governing portfolio managers and trustees derives from three federal acts, two Federal Council ordinances and one SFMA ordinance.

  • Financial Institutions Act
  • Financial Institutions Ordinance (FinIO)
  • Financial Market Supervision Act (SFMA Act)
  • Financial Services Act (FinSA)
  • Financial Services Ordinance (FinSO)
  • SFMA Financial Institutions Ordinance (FinIO-SFMA)

Financial Institutions Act

FinIA essentially standardises the authorisation rules for certain financial institutions (portfolio managers, managers of collective assets, fund management companies and securities firms). Portfolio managers and trustees require SFMA authorisation.

Financial Institutions Ordinance (FinIO)

FinIO governs the authorisation of, and organisational requirements for, supervised financial institutions.
